AI-Mediated Communication & Speech in the Age of AI
The Other Listener in the Room
AI is becoming an ever-present intermediary in professional communication. This changes what clear communication means.
Meetings are recorded. Calls are transcribed. Interviews are analysed. Customer conversations are processed by speech and language systems. A sentence can be perfectly understandable to a colleague and still be misheard by speech recognition, distorted in transcription or stripped of its intended meaning in an AI-generated summary.
The machine-generated record may then be searched, summarised, shared, scored or used to trigger a decision.
This creates a new dependency: the quality of the output depends partly on the quality and structure of the human input.
Mary was one of the first people in the spoken communication space to talk about this (you can read her thoughts in her book, Global English Clearly). At Vox London she works with organisations on the human input side of AI-mediated communication helping speakers produce speech that is structured, intelligible and resilient enough to survive transcription, summarisation and interpretation.

How Vox London Can Help
Vox London works at the point where human speech meets AI — helping organisations understand what happens when real voices, accents and communication styles are processed by systems built to listen, transcribe, summarise and judge.
Workshops & Briefings
Bring the hidden communication risks in AI-enabled workplaces into the open.
Practical, engaging sessions for leadership, L&D, AI, governance, risk and transformation teams exploring how speech moves through AI systems, what can be lost or distorted along the way, and where seemingly small misunderstandings can become business, reputational or people risk.
Advisory & Research Collaboration
Build the human communication layer into the technology.
Vox London works with organisations, researchers and voice-AI teams on the realities of Global English: accent and speaker variation, intelligibility, listener effort, speech recognition and the consequences of getting the speaker wrong. From research conversations to product and policy thinking, the focus is simple - does the system understand real people well enough for the decisions being built on its output?
Executive & Team Training
Make sure important people are still understood when technology is listening too.
Specialist speech training for international professionals whose communication needs to remain clear, structured and authoritative across meetings, presentations, recordings, transcription and AI-mediated workflows.
Training can address pace, emphasis, articulation, names and numbers, message hierarchy and communication under pressure — improving clarity for both the human listener and the increasingly important machine listener.
